If you want to know more about us and "the Bitterstrums," please read on. We love
to share.
The company was founded in December 2003 on the simple but rarely acknowledged perspective
that motherhood is not all sunshine, lullabies, and tender moments. My experience
was different. Reality knocked on the door, let itself in, sat down on the sofa
and set up home. It made me realize that I probably would not acquire the motherly
persona routinely expected of most new moms, or rattle myself trying. So I resolved
not to, and decided to cope with the challenge of motherhood by being true to myself
and my son and adding humor to the mix. I admire genuine wit, don't shy from sarcasm
and love the bite of a fresh retort. Add in a little retail experience, and you
have the birth of "the Bitterstrums."
I was hoping that the sharp and sassy sayings on our children's shirts would resonate
with others. To my surprise and pleasure, they did. I wasn't alone! I know "the
Bitterstrums" is not for everyone, and that's ok. There are no fairy tales here,
but a few wicked chuckles go a long way on a bad day.
Here's some other trivia: I live in Laguna Beach, California and have been here
for many years. Each item from "the Bitterstrums" includes a cool hang tag (as seen
to the right). The
shirts are printed with our signature logo and are made of the softest cotton right
up the road in Los Angeles, 100% sweatshop-free. If you want to know more, you'll
have to send me an e-mail. I'll leave it at that for now, and say thanks for checking
out the site. If you turn out to be a customer, that's great, too. I'll know that
you're one more person who gets it!
